K-pop stars Blackpink are coming to Abu Dhabi.

The four-member girl group, comprising Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa, have announced the first dates and cities for their Born Pink world tour — with the UAE capital listed as a stop on January 28, 2023.

No other details, including the venue or ticket prices, have been revealed yet.

Blackpink will also perform in Riyadh the week before, on January 20.

The group on Monday celebrated their sixth anniversary with members posting tributes on Instagram. Afterwards, their agency YG Entertainment announced they would be releasing a newsingle called Pink Venom on August 19. Their coming album, Born Pink, is set to be released some time in September.

Blackpink made their debut in August 2016 with the single Square One. Since stepping on to the music scene, the band have had the honour of being the highest-charting female Korean act on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No 13 with 2020's Ice Cream. They alsoreached No 2 on the Billboard 200 with smash-hit first album The Album, which was released in the same year. It is also the highest-selling album by a Korean girl group and the first to sell more than one million copies.

In July, the group hinted that they were preparing to release new music, having not done so since The Album, which made its debut in October 2020.

Reports began circulating earlier this year that the band were preparing for a comeback, with band member Jennie confirming reports during an appearance on YouTube channel Game Caterers in March.

“Blackpink is also making a comeback soon. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, but since I’m the only member here, I’ll just say it. Please look forward to it. Thank you very much,” she said.

In an interview with Rolling Stone in May, Rose said she doesn’t think the girl group will “ever end”, describing her fellow band members as “family forever”.

She said: “I grew up with them. They’re a part of me.

"I don’t think it’ll ever end. It’s dumb of me to ever worry about that or think about it.”

During the group’s brief hiatus, both Rose and Lisa embarked on solo careers, releasing their respective debut albums in March and September 2021. Jisoo, meanwhile, pursued acting, taking a leading role in the historical romance K-drama Snowdrop.

Mark your calendars: K-pop sensation Blackpink will be holding a concert in Malaysia on 4 March 2023.

This gig is part of Blackpink’s “largest world tour in the history of K-pop girl groups,” and fans in Malaysia are getting a taste of what the show is going to offer. Set to take the stage at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil, concert-goers will be experiencing this show in a newly-refurbished stadium, as the site is scheduled to undergo repair and refurbishment work before the concert.

If you’ve missed out on the opportunity of attending a Blackpink concert in Malaysia back when they first came to the country in 2019, now’s your chance! Although the group is only stopping by for one night, this venue has the capacity to take on nearly 90,000 BLINKs, as opposed to their two-day-long concert at Malawati Stadium, which could only take on 13,000 visitors at a time — meaning that your chances of scoring a ticket to attend this show-stopping concert are slightly higher compared to their last gig.

That’s not all — the band is scheduled to drop a highly-anticipated new album next month. After a two-year-long hiatus, YG-Entertainment confirmed that the South Korean girl band Blackpink will be coming back with new music in August. This month, they are filming the music video for their title track. BLINKs can also look forward to the announcement of the world tour dates of the unreleased album, which is to follow soon after the drop, so keep your eyes (and ears) peeled.

As you wait for their comeback single and album, here’s a snippet of what may be coming soon, captured accidentally during an Instagram Live from YG’s headquarters last week, where the band’s labelmate, “DUMB DUMB” singer Somi, walked into a studio playing an unreleased song.

Information about ticket purchases is not available yet.

Update: The K-pop girl band has announced more information on the Blackpink world tour, titled ‘Born Pink’. According to the newly-released tour schedule, Blackpink is stopping at these cities in Southeast Asia: Bangkok on 7 and 8 January 2023, Hong Kong on 13 and 14 January, Kuala Lumpur on 4 March, Jakarta on 11 March, Manila on 25 March, and Singapore on 13 May.

At the same time, they also teased a new single, ‘Pink Venom’, set for release on 19 August 2022.
