According to Car and Driver, the HR-V comes in three different trim levels. Starting with the base LX model, then the Sport, and the fully-loaded version is called the HR-V EX-L. Opting for the Sport model grants owners 18-inch wheels and black exterior trim, which looks better than the base variant. Additionally, the HR-V EX-L gains a leather interior, a larger touchscreen, and more.

According to MotorTrend, the 2023 Honda HR-V starts at $24,895. Thankfully, even with increased size, features, and more, the small Honda SUV stays affordable. MT says it looks sleeker and sportier, but the base price is only $1,780 more than the 2022 model. Do you think that’s a reasonable amount for increased space, power, and features?

For the range-topping trim, customers will pay $30,195. The fully loaded model is only about $5,000 more expensive than the base model, which isn’t terrible. However, does the automaker make the fully-loaded version worth your while? Those who choose to pay a premium will be handsomely rewarded with a jam-packed SUV. Plus, a lot is new about the next-generation model.

What’s new with the HR-V?

Firstly, instead of sharing underpinnings with the Fit hatchback as previous model years did, the new HR-V rides on the Civic platform. As a result, it’s an incredible 9.4 inches longer than the last year’s version. Additionally, now it’s only 2.3 inches shorter than the next step up in the Honda SUV lineup, the CR-V. Unfortunately, the size change didn’t affect cargo space very much. The HR-V has 24 cubic feet of space behind the rear seat and 55 cu. ft. when folded down.

That’s not all the next-gen HR-V shares with the Honda Civic sedan and hatchback. Moreover, the HR-V’s standard powertrain is a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four, producing 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. In addition, it comes with standard front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available for an extra $1,500.

Finally, inside the Honda SUV, there are even more upgrades. For 2023, a standard 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster, newer infotainment software, and a cleaner dashboard design are included. On top of the 7.0-inch center screen, there’s an available 9.0-inch version for a little extra cash. Lastly, there’s a drive mode selector with normal, eco, sport, and hill-descent control. The Honda HR-V doesn’t have any off-road prowess, so hill-descent control seems out of place.

When is the 2023 Honda HR-V available?

C/D says next-gen Honda HR-V models will arrive at dealerships later this month. Customers will be able to purchase an HR-V from their local dealership sometime in late June 2022. Be sure to check in with your dealer to find out if they’ll be available. With the state of the car market, you never know when a particular model will be sold out before it arrives. You’ll choose between the LX, Sport, and EX-L trim levels for the next-generation 2023 Honda HR-V.
