Starring - Female 4 Front: The Ultimate Kick Ass Warrior Michelle Yeoh I've known about this series for a while, but I've never really been interested in watching it. After viewing this short, though, I might change my mind. Everything from the set design to the cinematography to the performances appears to be high quality and promising. A few of the fights are shot and choreographed really well. Regarding Yeoh, alas, this is yet another series in which I have been duped into thinking that she has more than a token role and appears on screen for little more than five seconds or so. About to rewatch Marco Polo, so I had to revisit this short as well <3 Both Tom Wu and Benedict Wong blessings upon this world. Now on to watch one of the better shows Netflix created - and of course cancelled, bc they don't know a good thing when it's staring them right in the face (*cough* Sense8 *cough*). At least it lead to a few actors being discovered in the process, so I'm guessing thanks anyway.

I have never watched Marco Polo before, I just found the description of this short film interesting and it certainly was. This definitely makes me want to watch the show at some point because this was fantastic, one of the finest short films I have ever seen. The dialogue is wonderful, it is rich and full of thematic depth. The story is fascinating as well, a monk is blinded for going against the Khan and must learn to fight when he cannot see whilst also winning the respect of the Khan. The action is really great, very well choreographed and I loved that Michelle Yeoh cameo. The acting is really good from the man who plays one hundred eyes but…

Michelle Yeoh was literally in this special for 5 seconds and one line. Benedict Wong was good, though (I don't watch the show).

From inexplicably melodious tuvan throat singing to cringe.

I found this to be slow and lazy in terms of writing and the camera work was super basic. I don't really know what was good about it but I know it wasn't bad so I've given a rating right in the middle of the spectrum. I have not seen the show (yet) so I don't really know the world that is set out and I imagine I'd appreciate this more if I did watch the show.
Marco polo one hundred eyes review

This short, taken from the Marco Polo series was really good. If only the series did not have so much content, I know I would like it otherwise. It's tough having a standard some times. This had no content issues and proved the fact that this could be really good without it. Sad really, that many of these series have to add so much trash.

Marco Polo is hardly perfect. It deserves a listing on Your Fave Is Problematic, but it's also thoroughly enjoyable TV. [Marco Polo] aims to be a grand historical epic, but is too caught up in borrowing from other works to find its own voice. Netflix's new original series Marco Polo is good, not great.
