How to buy Eurovision tickets 2023

It has been announced that Liverpool will be hosting Eurovision 2023. The city was confirmed as the location for the competition ahead of runner-up Glasgow.

The popular Eurovision Song Contest is an annual song-writing affair that sees primarily European competitors battle it out to be crowned the winner, usually with a dazzling array of eclectic and elaborate performances. This year, Ukraine was victorious.

Due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), who organises the competition, have broken from tradition after ruling it would not be safe to hold next year's contest there. Liverpool beat off competitors including Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham to play host, the Liverpool Echo reports.

On Friday (October 7), Graham Norton confirmed on BBC's The One Show that it would be Liverpool hosting the beloved singing competition next year, after the shortlist was whittled down to just Glasgow and Liverpool. Responding to the news on social media, Eurovision bosses tweeted from the song contest's official account: "It's gonna be proper boss".

Hotels are already selling out fast and many people are eagerly waiting for tickets to go on sale. The final will be held on May 13, 2023.

Eurovision 2023 preparations have already begun, after Ukraine won the 2022 contest in Turin, Italy.

Liverpool will be the lucky UK city set to host the singing competition after pipping Glasgow to the post.

Earlier this year the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has announced that the winning country won’t be hosting the 67th Eurovision Song Contest as per tradition, given the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

As our entry, Space Man by Sam Ryder, came second to the Ukrainian folk-rap group Kalush Orchestra the UK and the BBC will be hosting the famous music competition next year for the first time since 1998.

Naturally, the discussion has many wondering… when will Eurovision tickets be on sale?

Here’s what we know so far.

When could Eurovision 2023 tickets go on sale?

It’s a bit too early to be talking about tickets yet, unfortunately.

According to the Eurovision website, the grand final of next year’s contest will take place in the Liverpool Arena next to the River Mersey on Saturday, May 13.

Semi-finals will take place on Tuesday, May 9, and Thursday, May 11.

There are nine shows taking place in total, including a jury show, family show, and a live TV show.

However, ticket information has not yet been released with organisers urging those looking to attend to follow the competition’s official social media pages and sign up to the event newsletter.

Organisers say: ‘Ticket prices, availability, and even the ticket provider, will take a little longer to decide while organisers evaluate how much space is needed for the production inside the venue.

‘Because the Eurovision Song Contest is a live TV production some sections of the seating may need to be altered to make way for cameras, technical equipment and the stage. This is entirely dependent on the chosen venue.’

It’s likely that we’ll hear more about tickets sometime in early 2023 if we look at last year’s sale dates.

For the 66th annual Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, tickets for the semi-finals and live final went on sale on April 7, 2022.

The contest was then held in mid-May, with the Grand Final airing on May 14.

However, they have been known to go on sale earlier than this, with the first batch of tickets for the 2020 contest in Rotterdam – before it was cancelled due to the pandemic – going on sale in December 2019.

Keep in mind that while tickets for the final always sell out fast, it is just one of nine ticketed shows across contest week.

Others include the two semi-finals, as well as some dress rehearsals which are performed in front of an audience. They are generally identical to the main event, just without the voting.
