I've had batteries in laptops from many different vendors suddenly die. Like overnight. It's nothing unusual. The 6510 is pretty old so it's debatable if it's worth getting a new battery, IMHO. Most Dells' have a battery health utility, did you run that to see what it says? Having re-read your post, I am not convinced it is the battery. It sounds more like a failure in the power section. That's a new motherboard if so. Could also be the external power supply.

I have Windows 10 & tried to open Chrome like always & got this this morning:

"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."

I opened Firefox & Googled youtube vids to try to help & followed one but that didn't do any good. I already downloaded Microsoft .NET Framework 4 & saved the file, then Googled, "download and install google chrome" & downloaded that too. Both downloads took like a second, but then I clicked on my Chrome icon to open it, it still didn't work. Please, please help me ASAP!

In the meantime, who can I call [Microsoft people, my ISP]?
