Semi Chip LEDs
The standard for all Maxspect LED fixtures is high quality LED chips from Semi, one of the world's largest LED manufacturers. Semi LEDS are high performance LEDs at a reasonable price. Mostly over 95% Customer will choose Semi Chips LED

For maximum light output you can choose to upgrade the 3w white LEDs to Cree XPG 6700K chips. The 15w blue and 30w white and 1w violet chips are still Semi Chip LEDs. While giving a height light output the Cree LEDs also have a somewhat more yellow colorcast, around 11000K to 12000K when all chips are lit and around 6700K when only the 3w chips are lit. Customers are advised to consider this, together with the higher price of the Cree chips before ordering.
Currently there is a 2-3 weeks delivery time on the Cree units.
LED color options
Maxspect LED lightning fixtures can be delivered with a variety of other LED colors. We can deliver red, green, purple and pink LED chips in any configuration you choose. If you prefer a custom configuration please contact Fish Street Store support.
Free light cover replacement
Over time the heat from the 30w LEDs might cause fogging of the clear lamp cover. Fish Street Store will provide free replacement covers if you experience this over time. You pay only for shipping.
What is the best lighting for a freshwater aquarium?
Your best lighting options for freshwater aquariums are standard fluorescent bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs, metal halide lights, and LED lights. You want to avoid incandescent bulbs as they are suitable only for small aquariums and can give off too much heat.
What is the best light spectrum for aquarium plants?
Plants in the aquarium do use all colors of the spectrum for photosynthesis. However, a red/blue spectrum provides better contrast as it stimulates coloration and displays higher pigmentation in plants, which is why plain white LEDs aren't suggested in aquariums.
How many hours should aquarium light be on?
How long should I keep my aquarium lights on? To provide animals and plants the lighting they need, 10 to 12 hours a day is sufficient. Installing a timer or purchasing a unit with integrated timing can make lighting easier––just set it and forget it. Keep in mind algae loves light as well.
