Gaming laptop vs workstation Reddit

As I was browsing for yet another laptop to buy last week, I couldnt help but notice that many workstations cost a lot more than most gaming laptops with beefier gpus and/or similar performance specs. Most of my gaming is on console and I have a 3080 desktop anyway, but I mainly use my laptops for browsing and schoolwork. I settled on an XPS 17 with a 2060 max-q in it because its more tailored to my needs with the touch screen, 4K, slim profile, etc. Similarly priced laptops have even less processing power and for example, a $3000 surface book gets you a 1660ti. Now I understand for that case at least its partly due to heat and space restraints, but even looking at the 16 MacBook pros youre equipped with a Radeon 5500 or 5600. The new 3000 series laptops are even at the $1000-1500 range with a 3060-70 in them. Most of the time these gaming laptops can process videos and 3D render just as well as workstations, if not better because of the specs, but workstations usually cannot game as well, yet are usually $500-1000 above what the gaming laptop would be. Even after considering 4K screens on many workstations [which I know certain gaming laptops have as well], I still dont understand the pricing. Anyone have insight to this? Thanks
