The user tells me that when they remote into the PC it does not accept the same password he uses for his PC but instead a variation of it he has used before.

That means there is a sync issue, somewhere. An old password should not allow access. Check the Credential Manager on the remote PC and remove any outdated stuff. Also, have the user log out of the remote machine and log back in to ensure it syncs correctly with the domain.

I have a Server 2012 R2 with Remote Desktop installed.

I'm confused about this... you said it's a Windows 10 machine connected to a Windows 7 machine. How is Server 2012 involved?

This was the first time he tried to remote in with his laptop.

Also I provided the server information to provide more detail on the network setup.

That's very strange, then.... an old password should not allow access. Maybe on the work machine he's got an issue? Maybe it's been a long time since he logged out, which can cause some odd sync issues.
