I bought this to breath some new life into an old laptop. Acer 7741Z-5731 that had an Intel Pentium P6000 1.86Ghz dual core CPU in it. After doing some research, I found that the system could be upgraded to several 1st gen Core i series chips, including some i7s though the cooling and power supply is insufficient for those chips. I went with the Core i5 560m because the TDP is identical to the P6000 at 35watts. After cracking open the laptop, which was kind of a pain, but not too bad, I removed the old chip and dropped in this fella. I cleaned the cooler thoroughly and reinstalled everything. closed up the case making sure all the cables and ribbons we reconnected properly and plugged in the battery and power supply and powered the machine up. Immediately I noticed a very dramatic increase in system speed. Boot time was faster by nearly 7 seconds. Everything run so much better. Smoother, faster everything. Unfortunately, the graphics capabilities are about the same as before since the P6000 has the same GPU as the i5 560m, though the i5 does have the ability to overclock the GPU dynamically. It's just not powerful enough to play any modern games. But older games like Star Wars Galaxies runs like a champ. Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase. I think I can get another 5 years of service out of this old 2010 laptop. It has a new lease on life.
