Sounds won't come from Serato
Just got my DDJ SX-2 today, and it comes with the Serato full version. I don't understand why I can't hear anything when I am on my Serato, but I can hear it right from itunes. Is there anything wrong with my setup? I can hear the sound from nowhere, neither the laptop or the speaker. It just won't show from the Serato software, only when I input my laptop to controller, otherwise it works. I've also put the volume on max. What should I do? and does it have something to do with the controller too? or should is it just the software?

No Speakers? No Problem!
Unfortunately Serato has never given the user the ability to use their computers built in speakers when hardware is plugged in. This means when you want to practice, Serato users are forced to plug in speakers to their decks or use headphones. Not always practical, it leaves Serato DJ’s envious of the Rekordbox users who benefit from a simple button to activate the laptops speakers. How ever, what most DJ’s don’t know is that there is a quick and easy hack to re route the audio back to the laptops speakers.
Note: In version 2.4.1 you can now simply enable “Use laptop speakers” in Serato DJ Pro and Serato DJ Lites audio settings.
The “Hack”
1. Connect your controller to your computer.
2. In applications, scroll to “other” and then launch “Audio MIDI Devices”
3. Click the “+” symbol in the bottom left corner and then click “Add Aggregate Device” .
4. Once you have created an Aggregate device you’ll be able to see it in the list of devices to the left. Rename the new device by double clicking on its name, rename it to the exact same name as your controller in the list.
5. On the right hand side, make sure you click “Built-in Output”.
6. Now open Serato DJ, and enjoy the master output coming through the laptops speakers!
Note: You must delete the new aggregate device when you wish to return to controllers audio outputs.

serato help. anyone know how to use a computer speakers and controller simultaneously?
cant really find any posts online that give real guides for how this is done. i have 2 audio interfaces, onboard sound card and an extra sound card if that helps
I just got a Numark Party Mix MkII controller for Christmas and installed Serato DJ Lite on my laptop. When I play tracks without the controller connected, I can hear them just fine through my laptop, but as soon as I plug in the controller I can’t hear the audio anymore.
I’ve gone to settings on DJ Lite and selected the “Use Laptop Speakers” option too, and it still won’t work. I checked the audio settings on my laptop and nothing seems to be wrong, so I don’t know what the issue is.
I have a MacBook Air if that makes a difference.
Ever wondered why Serato makes you plug speakers in to your controller to be able to hear anything? Ever wished you could sometimes not bother, and just plug your controller in and DJ with your laptop speakers?
Whether it’s because you have a small controller and like to travel with it, or you have some great speakers already attached to your laptop and you don’t see why you can’t use them, it is something many people have wished for – and as of Serato DJ Pro 2.4, it has arrived.
How to play Serato through your laptop speakers
There are three things you need:
- You need to have your controller plugged in – Unless you’re using Serato Play [the Expansion Pack that lets you DJ with Serato using just the laptop and keyboard, in which case it automatically uses the laptop speakers], this step is essential
- You need to be running Serato DJ Pro 2.4 or newer – This was only introduced in Serato DJ Pro 2.4
- You need to have your laptop speakers set as the default audio output device on your computer – Unless you want to use other speakers that are attached via an audio interface, for instance – in which case, they ought to be selected

Once you’re sure of all of those things, it’s as simple as going to the Settings, then Audio, then ticking the new box under Audio Output that says “Use Laptop Speakers”.
That’s it – finally, you can DJ with your controller without having to plug speakers into the controller itself.
