2023 BMW X3 Overview
The BMW X3 rolls into 2023 unchanged after receiving a slight update last year, including interior and exterior redesigns to keep it competitive. This family-friendly compact crossover is available with three powertrains including a plug-in hybrid model.
Performance
The entry-level X3 xDrive30i is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder rated at 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque and paired with an 8-speed automatic. For improved fuel efficiency, the X3 xDrive30e uses a plug-in hybrid powerplant consisting of a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder with with an electric motor and battery. Net system output is 288 hp, with the crossover able to travel 29 km on electric power alone. Those after a more engaging drive can bump up to the X3 M40i, which uses a turbocharged 3.0L inline six-cylinder engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system to provide additional performance. This powertrain puts out 382 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
Practicality
The interior impresses with a centre console featuring trim strips in black high-gloss and controls for the air conditioning system. Ensuring more comfort and intuitive operation are sport seats in perforated Sensatec and the 10.25-inch central information display, which can be upgraded to 12 inches. Innovative technologies such as smartphone integration, BMW Maps and BMW News, as well as driver assistance systems such as the Driving Assistant Professional enhance the driving experience and safety.
Canadian Pricing
The 2023 X3 starts at $54,300 for the standard xDrive30i. The plug-in hybrid xDrive30e model is $64,990, with the M40i starting at $69,400.
